A PAIR of peregrine falcons hoping to start a family seem to have learned their lesson.
A previous attempt recently ended in disaster for the couple, who have been nesting on top of St Mary Magdalene Church, in Taunton.
Unfortunately, the mother-to-be clumsily kicked the egg off the ledge where she was guarding it.
But there was good news this weekend when it was discovered the female bird had laid an egg in a far safer place.
She is using a nesting box constructed on the tower, away from danger.
The box is part of a project to attract the falcons back to the church, where they were spotted last year - the species is endangered.
Although the female has been sitting on the egg, she has also spent time away from it.
That suggests there could be one or more eggs yet to come.
All the action is being recorded via a webcam, with film relayed to the church below.
