A BUILDING in Dulverton has suffered severe damage after a fire broke out this morning (Wednesday, May 9).
Firefighters from Dulverton, Tiverton, Wiveliscombe and South Molten attended the scene at the Parish Rooms on Rosemary Lane at 10.21am.
The fire had broken out in the roof space of a two-storey hall and on arrival the crews confirmed the building was heavily smoke logged.
They swiftly got to work using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.
With the fire progressing, the team used ceiling hooks, a ladder and hose reels to gain better access to the fire in order to extinguish it fully.
Western Power were requested to attend to isolate the power to the property, and police set up a road closure.
At midday, the incident was scaled down as the fire was now under control, however the building had suffered severe damage in the blaze.
It is believed the fire was caused by an electrical fault in the roof space.
