A COLLECTION for a skittles player who captained his team for 70 years has been donated to Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment.
Ron Greenway has presented the £50 to County Gazette-backed SURE, which helps equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
Other donations last week included £2 from Paul Alway in coppers; £35 from an auction of jewellery; £20 from Joyce Pratt; and £5.60 from the funds left after the closure of the Ruishton Magazine Club.
Collection pots totalled £58.35 at the One Stop Shop, Galmington; £12.16 from Trull Stores; £107.10 from Tesco Express, in East Reach; and £45.36 from Tesco Express, in Comeytrowe.
Left at the Beacon Centre was £4 in 5p coins from Audrey Winter and the day centre, and £148 from the Beacon Centre was mainly in 5ps.
The week's total of £487.57 means £772,033.82 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
