MEMBERS of the public have the chance to see behind the scenes at the Royal Marine base in Norton Fitzwarren - and enjoy a curry lunch served up by members of 40 Commando.

The Big Commando Curry Lunch at Norton Manor Camp on Saturday, July 21, will raise funds for the South West region of the ABF The Soldiers' Charity and Taunton-based Go Commando.

A Go Commando spokesman thanked Commanding Officer Lieut Col Paul Maynard for the use of the base.

He added: "This unique occasion will offer a whistle-stop view of day to day life in a busy military environment, giving members of the general public a great opportunity to engage with our local military unit and enjoy a special curry lunch with a difference, served in 40 Commando’s sergeants’ mess.

"The meal will be prepared and served from a ‘military style field kitchen’ by Royal Marines’ personnel."

Diners will have the chance to watch static displays from Royal Marines and listen to a speaker from ABF The Soldiers' Charity.

A number of local businesses have sponsored the occasion or donated prizes for the raffle.

Numbers are limited - for your ticket costing £25 call ABF The Soldiers' Charity South West regional office on 01392-496412 or e-mail southwest@soldierscharity.org
