WE read with some trepidation the various suggestions and failures for this sad site.
Taunton was once the centre of a thriving tourist area. It no longer seems that way.
The travelling facilities in the town hardly invite tourists, with an outdated coach station and nowhere to park to drop off or pick up passengers, and no comfortable waiting areas, toilets or café.
Surely Firepool would be an ideal site for a modern coach station with a walk through connection direct to the railway station, a short stay carpark for dropping off and pickups, a long stay park for day excursionists, a taxi rank, comfortable waiting areas & toilets, a café (bistro?), small shops (papers, delicatessen) and even a police or tourist information kiosk.
It may not generate immediate income, but the long term benefits would be considerable.
