RESURFACING work is set to get underway on a major Taunton thoroughfare.
Work will get underway in East Reach on Monday, June 18, and will take place between 6.30pm and 11.30pm for around 15 evenings, excluding weekends, according to Somerset County Council.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place while the work is carried out, as well as restrictions and closures of several side roads, including Victoria Street, South Street,
Councillor John Woodman, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “I’m sure anyone who has driven along East Reach in recent times will agree that repairs are needed.
“I’m very pleased we have been able to plan an extensive resurfacing scheme – we’re not just filling the potholes, we are removing and replacing the top layer of the road which will stop them reforming.”

The council says sections of the road, the A38, are showing signs of significant deterioration and will be resurfaced as part of its structural maintenance programme.
