HUNDREDS of animal lovers turned out to support a county animal rescue charity's open day.

St Giles Animal Rescue Centre, near Taunton, welcomed visitors on Saturday to find out more about what they do - and how they do it.

The event serves as a chance for the public to get more information about the charity's work, as well as acting as a fundraiser for the group.

A spokesman for St Giles said: "What a day. Thank you to all the amazing staff who pulled together to make it such a great day.

"Also a very special thank you to all who attended to help us raise awareness of our rescue animals and the other services we provide here at the centre."

County Gazette editor, Paul Jones, is patron of the charity for 2018.

He said: "The open day was a fantastic event and it was great to see so many people finding out more about the work that goes on at St Giles - and the cake was lovely too."
