FIREFIGHTERS responding to several 999 calls were sent to tackle a tractor fire.
Initial reports suggested a blaze involving a "commercial plot well alight" at Flightway, Dunkeswell, at around 4.25am today (Friday).
There were fears that the fire could spread due to flammable liquids, gases and other hazards on the site.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "As crews from Honiton arrived on scene it became clear that this was a tractor fire.
"The incident commander soon confirmed a tractor well alight, detailed two of his crew to don breathing apparatus and to use a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire before it spread to anything else."
He confirmed that the fire was out at 5.34am and crews made the scene safe.
Police have been informed of the incident.
