TAUNTON Stamp Club Annual General Meeting saw the following officers elected to serve for the 2007-2008 season. President - Tony Osmond, chairman - David Trathen, vice chairman - Evan Williams, secretary - Tony West, Packet secretary - Barbara Osmond, programme secretary - John Dickson, Exhibition secretary - David Trathen, minute secretary - Tony Nicholson, P.R.O - Tony Osmond, treasurer - John Paul, librarian - John Charnley. Committee members, Peter Hardie and Geoff Tarr, Accounts Examiner, Mike Welch.
The chairman, secretary and treasurer all reported a most successful 2006-2007 season and the later stared that income from raffles, the Packet circuit and Annual Exhibition was such that existing members could look forward to another subscription free season. John Charnley was voted Club Person of the Year and received the Keith Knott Golden Jubilee Trophy.
The Clubs 63rd season gets underway at St John's Church Hall, St John's Road, Taunton on September 10 with a members' evening in which individuals will display a maximum of 8 sheets of their favourite items with a 5 minute commentary. On September 24, Skanda Vaitilingam will travel from Bristol to exhibit stamps issued to commemorate the Universal Postal Union.
Current and new members together with friends, guests and visitors can be assured of a most warm welcome at the above ensuing meetings which will contain visiting speakers, a quiz, competitions, an auction and Christmas social evening.
