MINEHEAD Youth Theatre graduates are back in West Somerset for the summer rehearsing hard for an upcoming performance at the Regal Theatre from August 28-30.
After their successful debut with John Godber's Teechers last summer they come to the Regal with Tom Stoppard's Dogg's Hamlet, Cahoot's Macbeth in a performance, which promises boundless energy and creative imagination. This is reduced Shakespeare in a nutshell; two plays in one evening; performed as you have never seen them before and united by Stoppard's brilliant comic writing into surreal and zany farce.
Stoppard wrote these plays at a time when artists in his native Czechoslovakia were literally driven to performing their work on buses and in living rooms to avoid the notice of the authorities.
He takes this concept to the extreme in a series of bewildering scenarios that will cause laughter at the most tragic moments - classroom Shakespeare this is definitely not.The show runs from Tuesday to Thursday and starts at 7.30pm. Tickets up to £6.50 are now on sale from the Regal Box Office, on 01643-706430, 10am to 3pm Monday to Saturday.
