VISITORS to Minehead got a chance to see for themselves the vital rescue work done by the town's lifeboat crews on Sunday.
Both inshore lifeboats were launched, and a mock rescue took place in the bay with an RAF search and rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor.
A collection of historic photographs and memorabilia was on display in the listed RNLI boathouse at Minehead harbour, which has been a prominent feature on the West Somerset shoreline since 1901.
Volunteer senior helmsman Phil Sanderson said: "Our open days are a great occasion and we are always keen to welcome visitors young and old alike to the station.
The open days give us an opportunity to give people an insight into the work we do."
