The Mount Somerset Hotel, at Henlade, hosted a garden party - indoors because of gale force winds outside on Sunday.

More than 120 guests enjoyed champagne and cream teas with musical entertainment from the Bath Spa String Trio.

Proceeds from the event have been donated to the St Margaret's Somerset Hospice New Build Appeal and Mount Somerset staff are delighted to have raised over £2,500 for the Appeal.

All the raffle prizes were donated by the Mount Somerset including dinner, bed and breakfast, a la carte dinner and Sunday lunch.

First prize of luxury dinner, bed and breakfast was won by Emma Nurse of Thornwick Nursery.

An auction also took place with several lots, including top auction prize of dinner cooked in your own home by the hotel's chef, Stefan Warwick.

The Mount Somerset's sister hotel Lewtrenchard Manor, part of the von Essen collection, also donated an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast.

To add to the glamour of the day all the women were invited to wear their best hats.

Susan Fountain impressed head chef and best hat judge Stefan Warwick and was presented with a bouquet of flowers for the best hat.

The Mount Somerset Hotel's General Manager Barbara Loadwick said: "I am thrilled the event was such a success and that all the hard work by our dedicated staff paid off.

"I would like to thank our loyal customers and suppliers for their generosity and commitment in ensuring we raised a fantastic amount of money for the St Margaret's New Build Appeal".

The Appeal has now reached £1.6 million but there is plenty of fund raising left to do before the target of £2 million is reached.
