TRAINEE solicitor David Luard is celebrating his late mother's life by visiting ten of the houses where she lived during an energy-sapping marathon walk.

David plans to cover 315 miles in 11 days traveling from his mother's old home in Stawley en route to London.

He is raising money for St Margaret's Somerset Hospice, where she was cared for before her death from breast cancer.

David said: "I wanted to do something that would be connected to my Mum and would also be challenging enough to raise a decent amount of money.

"The trek will take me on a wiggling journey from Somerset, starting in Stawley and visiting South Cheriton, Castle Cary, and Evercreech, then on to Kent, up to Hertfordshire and finishing in London."

He added: "Mum's death was almost perfect - completely peaceful, pain free and with her family at her side.

"We all have to go sometime and the money that people donate will help ensure that when the time inevitably comes, it will be peaceful for others in St Margaret's care and more bearable for their families and friends who they leave behind."

David's walk starts on Saturday, September 1.
