SOMERSET County Council has signed up to a new campaign charter committing it to providing decent services for families with disabled children.
The charter was launched in October 2006, but with five months to go until its delivery date at the start of next year, only a fifth of authorities have signed up.
By signing up, councils are promising to provide families with information, appoint key workers to co-ordinate services and to involve disabled children and parents in planning.
Campaign manager Steve Broach said: "We need everyone who cares about children to sign up to our campaign at www.edcm.org.uk and help persuade every council to sign our campaign charter."
