HEATHFIELD Community School was celebrating outstanding GCSE results this year.
For the third year in a row, nearly three-quarters of Year 11 students achieved five or more higher grades, with many students taking advantage of after-school classes in subjects like Modern Languages, ICT and Photography to record 13 or more higher passes.
Overall, 97% of students achieved five or more GCSE passes, with 72% achieving 5 or more A* to C grades.
Particular academic high flyers, who all achieved at least 7 A*/A grades were: Charlotte Abbott, Simon Bennett, Jessica Burnell, Doug Drake, Kelly Francis, Emma Gardiner, Sophie Gidley, Dan Hanratty, Sarah Harding, Zak Hawkins, Lucy Hawkins, Stephen House, Daniel Howe, Charlotte Keates, Jess Lugg, Craig Lynch, David Middleton-Gear, Sarah Macey, Daryl Poore, Rob Pope and Peter Watts.
Headteacher Elliott Furneaux, commented: "As these students showed during events like the Leavers Prom and the Leavers Assembly, as well as in their approach to their GCSE exams, they were a particularly positive and cohesive year group who thoroughly deserve their success.
"Many students who came to the school with considerable special educational needs have achieved results of which they should be very proud.
"Thanks are due to their families for all their support and to all their teachers over the past eleven years for all their hard work both within and beyond the classroom."
