CHARITIES in the Taunton area have been boosted by a decision not to charge them to use parks and public spaces for social events.
Taunton Flower Show, in Vivary Park earlier this month, is the first event to benefit, with around £1,500 in hire fees being dropped by Taunton Deane Council.
But organisers of commercial events will still have to pay a hire fee to compensate for loss of the public use of the parks.
