OFFICERS in Somerset West, which includes Taunton, made 16 arrests on Friday night as part as Operation Relentless.
A total of 22 licensed premises were visited and PCSOs tested about 30 drinks for drugs.
500 crime prevention pamphlets were given out to patrons of licensed premises and Taunton's Shout nightclub supported the initiative by using a drug testing machine as a condition of entry.
The operations, which continued into the early hours of Friday morning, saw officers joined by licensing and Trading Standards experts to carry out full safety checks and test purchasing operations.
