A TOTAL of 51% of all GCSE results at Wellington School were A* and A grades.
All 118 pupils achieved at least five A*-C passes, with 36 of them earning at least nine A* or A.
Lynn Kwo had 11 A*s and an A; Anastasia Wark scooped 10A*s and two As; Oliver Budd secured ten A*, an A and a B; Anna Dawson scored eight A*s and four As; Sally O'Brien got eight A*s, two As and a B; and Matthew Mears clocked seven A*s and five As.
Of the 30 candidates who took GCSE maths a year early, 29 A*s.
Jolyon Drew and Naomi Oxberry were both in the top five nationally of English Literature candidates.
Headmaster, Martin Reader said: "I'm particularly delighted that a number of students who were predicted to gain lower grades pushed themselves up to Cs and Bs and special thanks goes to teachers who gave up extra time to coach.
"It is also good to see how well our overseas candidates achieved across the board at this level."
A number of students received their results in Chile, where they are taking part in a rugby tour.
