WELLINGTON Majorettes is welcoming new members as their summer season draws to a close.
The troupe has had a very busy summer schedule despite some events being cancelled due to bad weather.
At the beginning of June the majorettes and their families enjoyed a residential weekend at Huish Woods Scout Camp which involved lots of team building activities and traditional singing around the camp fire.
From mid June to the end of July the group were out every weekend performing at a variety of events which included many local summer fairs and shows, visiting residents of some of the local nursing homes and the visit to Crealy Great Adventure Park for the Annual Summer Carnival.
So far the troupe has seen over 15 new members joining since January and are happy for anyone else to come forward.
Troupe manager Louise Brierley, said: "We have had a really busy schedule so far and with over 15 new members joining it has been really hard work but we have had some great fun. I would like to thank everyone for all their contributions so far, it has been a fantastic team effort."
The troupe of over 30 members will be taking part in 5 local carnivals this year.
Anyone wishing to become a member of the team should contact Louise Brierley on 01823-661392 or e-mail wellingtonmajorettes@fsmail.net Organisations are already booking the team for 2008. The committee would also be interested to hear from any local companies that would like to sponsor the group in 2008.
