POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Wellington last night.
The incident happened at Leigh Hill on the Blackdown Hills at about 6.40pm.
A motorcycle travelling east along the Wrangway was in collision with a tractor and trailer travelling in the opposite direction, which was laden with straw bales.
The motorcyclist, a 48-year-old man from Somerset was taken to the MPH, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the tractor, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was later released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
The road policing unit have issued an appeal for witnesses.
