POWER has been restored to more than 100 homes after fallen power lines sparked a fire.
Emergency services were called to Exeter Road, Rockwell Green, near the pet supplies store at around 1pm on Wednesday (September 19) after a power line fell and caught fire to a nearby hedge.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We arrived at the scene at 1.04pm following reports of a fire.
"There were broken electricity cables along the roadside which were sparking.
"We set up cordons and police closed the road.
"Western Power Distribution were also in attendance.
"Two crews from Wellington and one from Taunton were sent to the incident.
"They left the scene at 2.15pm."
Witnesses at the scene said they saw the sparking powerlines but were told to move on by the authorities.
119 properties in the surrounding area lost power but it has since been restored.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police, said: "We are assisting the fire service at the scene."
