‘I HAVE sold hats to people from all over the world and my business has continued to grow.’
Those are the words of Janine Cowell, owner of Hats by Janine, who said a steady stream of orders has been coming in ever since she opened up her store 18 months ago.
The colourful store in St James Street trader sells hats and fascinators, jewellery, shoes and scarves fit for any occasion.
Janine, 50, said she was inspired to open the store after spending more than 20 years in retail.
“I worked as a personal shopper at Debenhams for years and have always enjoyed working in retail," she said.
“After a number of years sitting on the idea of opening a store, I finally decided to do it and it was the best decision I have ever made.
“We have just got a new range of hats in and all of our hats can be bespoked with any colour customers desire.
“I pride myself on giving good, old-fashioned customer service and try my best to help customers get a hat which best matches their outfit.”
Janine said she thinks people should do their bit to support Taunton businesses and said she has had positive feedback from customers since she opened.
“I have had people order hats from me from all over the world and the feedback has been fantastic,” Janine said.
“There is real community support in Taunton and some fantastic shops at Riverside and in the town’s High Street.
“I would urge anyone to support independent businesses as they are the heartbeat of the town.”
