A WEEK after his grandmother was in Taunton, in May 1974, Prince Charles followed suit with a different kind of visit.
The young Prince was at Orchard Portman as captain of the Royal Navy polo team.
Unfortunately, even though the Royal player got on the scoresheet, he could not lead his team to victory, as they lost 4 1/2 to 5 against the Mariners, a retired naval officers' side from the Taunton Vale Club.
