THE West Somerset Railway got back on track today with the first trips of the season.

After a troubled period, dealing with financial problems and safety issues, the heritage line was running between Bishops Lydeard and Watchet throughout Saturday.

Hundreds used the services and WSR general manager, Paul Conibeare, said the day 'had a feelgood factor'.

"It's great to have the railway up and running again," he said.
