WELLINGTON Carnival will NOT go ahead this year after no volunteers came forward to run it.
The annual event, which usually takes place at the end of September each year, will not be going ahead this year.
The outgoing chairman of Wellington Carnival Committee has been crying out for help for months, hoping someone will come forward to take over as she struggled to balance the carnival with her other commitments.
But, after an emergency meeting, no one came forward.
A spokesperson said: "Wellington Carnival Committee has to sadly advise that nobody came forward to run the carnival.
"The street fair will still go ahead on June 7 2020 and every year after by the current street fair organisers
"However, after that, Wellington Carnival Committee will be dissolved."
Wellington Carnival was part of the South Somerset Federation, alongside Chard, Taunton, and Ilminster. It was not part of the larger circuit which hosts the likes of Bridgwater and North Petherton.
