PUPILS at Wellington School are in self-isolation as a precaution against coronavirus, but lessons are going on as planned.
The school has published its latest statement on coronavirus, in which it says it is 'following closely all advice offered by Public Health England and the government'.
A spokesman for Wellington School added: "Currently, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Wellington School, however some pupils are self-isolating in line with guidance published by PHE.
"Teaching and learning is currently carrying on in class as usual."
Although it is not completely business as usual at the school.
The spokesman added: "In the light of changes to official guidance regarding COVID-19 we have made the decision to stop all non-essential activities at the school with immediate effect.
"All trips, sport fixtures, concerts, plays and weekend activities will be suspended until further notice, as will any public events."
Steps are also being taken to make sure the school can cope with any potential closures.
"Teaching staff have been working very hard to ensure that remote learning can take place should the School be closed," said the school's spokesman.
"A lot of work has gone into making sure our online platforms are ready to support you and your children effectively. There will be parental access to the Parent Portal of Firefly so that parents are able to monitor tasks set for pupils."
A number of boarders have returned home and the school as recommended that those boarders that are able to return home do so immediately.
They added:"Wellington School continues to be vigilant and follow Public Health England updated guidelines surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19).
"The Headmaster and Governors are grateful for the support from parents, pupils and staff with this ever-changing situation.
"It is our intention to keep the community fully informed, and ensure that all in our community are safe. Daily updates are being sent to parents and information is continually updated on the website.
"We remain committed to ensuring that every measure is taken to protect the welfare of the Wellington community."
