A FORMER Taunton student is hosting a politics show on the radio aimed at taking on the BBC.
Matt Chorley, who grew up on the Somerset Levels and attended Richard Huish College, will present the mid-morning show on ad-free Times Radio when it airs for the first time this summer.
Matt, who was a reporter on the now defunct Taunton Times, currently edits The Times newspaper's Red Box newsletter and podcast.
Last autumn, he took his political satire show This is not Normal to theatres across the country, including Taunton's Brewhouse.
Matt said: "Having spent the last few years unpicking politics for the greatest newspaper in the world, I can’t wait to get started doing the same on the most exciting new radio station in the world, taking listeners behind the scenes to explain how Westminster works with the best guests and features.
"When my school reports said, 'Shares his ideas readily with others’, they made constantly talking sound like a bad thing.
"Now, amazingly, I seem to have turned it into a job. This is not normal."
