POLICE and paramedics were called to this crash on the A38 Walford Cross last night (Wednesday).
The car ended up on its side after taking out a road sign at the junction with the main road at about 8.40pm.
Benji Williams, who took the photos, was on his way home with his partner after they had both completed 12-hour shifts at Wellesley Secure Mental Health Hospital, in Wellington.
He said the two of them were "shocked" when they saw the incident.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: We were called at approximately 8.50pm to support the ambulance service after a single-vehicle accident on the A38 at Walford Cross.
"Officers on arrival found a BMW car on its side.
"William Hale, 28, has been charged with driving a car while under the influence of alcohol.
"He was released on bail to appear at Taunton Magistrates' Court on June 4."
