A TOWN centre market is set to return next month after the coronavirus forced its cancellation.
Taunton Independent Market was just getting into its stride after its first event in March earlier this year.
The new and highly anticipated market was set to be a monthly occurrence, until the pandemic lockdown took hold of the country.
Undeterred and roaring to go, Michelle Beck and her team are bringing back the market on Castle Green - with the next event set for Sunday, September 13.
Ms Beck said: "We’re beyond excited to announce that the Taunton Independent Market will return to Taunton’s Castle Green.
"We will still have more than 60 stalls but we will be spreading them around the town to allow for social distancing.
There are big plans for some extra Chrismas markets with road closures across the town in December.
"There will of course, be lots of measures in place to ensure the safety of all stall holders, staff and visitors.
"In the meantime customers can continue to support our local and small businesses by shopping online at tauntonmarket.co.uk which has more than 40 local producers and a weekly delivery service.
Another popular festival is also set to return next month.
The Feast festival will return to Castle Green on Saturday, September 26, with organisers promising a range of measures to ensure the safety of those attending.
"We’re excited to announce that the Feast Taunton food market will return," they said.
"There will be lots of measures in place to ensure the safety of all stall holders and visitors."
There are also plans for a special dinner at The Castle Hotel as part of the event, they added.
