ALL the fun of the fair will be returning to Minehead next week as the popular Leigh Danter & Son’s Funfair returns to the town.
There will be dozens of attractions as the company brings its popular rides to Marshfield Road once again.
With concerns cases of Covid-19 rising again in Somerset, funfair manager Leigh Danter has assured residents that the appropriate cautions are in place for everyone to have a fun, and more importantly, safe experience at the fair.
The funfair will be in town from Wednesday, September 23 to Sunday, September 27.
Mr Danter said: “Funfairs have been permitted to run by the government and we have been back in action for nearly three months now under the new guidance.
“It is going to be really fantastic coming back to Minehead, with a number of new attractions to boot.
“We are definitely going to be able to cater for any brave thrill seekers by bringing our white-knuckle wonder Oxygen to Minehead for the first time.”
Along with Oxygen, a 40 metre (or 130ft) spinning propeller ride, Mr Danter and his team are also bringing with them the classic dodgems, spinning thrill rides Superstar and Superbowl, plenty of family-friendly rides, as well as various vendors offering hot food, sweet treats and refreshments.
Mr Danter added: “We will have a fence put up around the site and security in order to ensure we can limit the numbers and maintain social distancing at the fair.
“There will also be hand sanitising stations and we will be using the track and trace system on entry.
“All the rides and have been specially treated with ZOONO sanitiser and all rides and attractions will be cleaned at regular intervals.”
The traditional funfair has proved popular since returning to Minehead last year for the first time in 20 years, the result of months of hard work by Minehead Town Council’s Cllr Paul Bolton and Cllr Toni Bloomfield.
The fair will be open 4pm to 9pm from Wednesday to Friday, and then from noon to 9pm on Saturday, and noon to 7pm on the Sunday.
