THIS year has been tough for everyone.
We appear to be so close to a vaccine now and it would be madness to drop our guard.
I think we must all accept that this Christmas will be very different to previous years.
We have come to terms with the fact that we won’t be able to sit down to the traditional Christmas Day with our whole family.
We all feel sad about it, but there is nothing we can do about it. Personally, we are planning our big get together at Easter if the rules allow.
I’ve seen that loads of people have put their Christmas trees up early. Twinkly lights to brighten the mood.
So, what can we do to cheer us all up? We can step outside and go for walks. We are so blessed in Somerset and I have written about this many times before. Recently we wrapped up warm and drove up to Wellington Monument. The views from up there are breathtaking! It was great fun to walk on the crunchy leaves and escape from inside for a few hours.
READ MORE: Two Christmas trails launched in Taunton
This year there is a new initiative created to encourage us to get into town and support local businesses while at the same time having lots of FUN!
Have you heard about Taunton Winter Trails?
There will be TWO trails in and around Taunton town centre from today (December 3 - more on page).
GoCreate have joined forces with ‘Rocket and Bird’ to bring some festive fun to our town! With the support of Somerset West and Taunton Council, they will be highlighting independent shops and businesses in Taunton and showing off the work of local artists.
The two family-friendly, fun trails are ‘Find The Lost Toys’ hiding in 23 of our fantastic independent shop windows, while the other is to follow the ‘Bauble Art Trail’ around town and in some of our wonderful open spaces. You can pick up a free brochure from the Visitor Centre.
