SCORES of people are being given their Covid-19 inoculation at Somerset's first mass vaccination hub after it opened for the first time today (Monday).
Taunton Racecourse will be running two sites for people to receive the vaccine.
Initially around 200 vaccines will be given each day, but that will quickly rise to around 900 a day by next week.
The centre, one of ten mass vaccination sites to open across the country today, is operating between 8am and 8pm seven days a week.
People living within 45 minutes will be able to receive their jab there.
The NHS has sent letters to residents from the priority groups inviting them to book their jab through the new national booking services by phone, or online.
The centre will be an additional option for people to have their Covid-19 jab, but people can also choose to wait to be called by their local GP surgery if they prefer.
