A SOMERSET man has made colourful metal figurines to cheer up his town and thank key workers for their hard work during the coronavirus pandemic.
Steven Heard from Minehead has been making the ‘metal heads’ out of free recycled metal to show his appreciation for the work they have been doing.
He recently donated a ‘metal head’ paramedic to staff at Minehead Ambulance Station but he has donated the figurines to a number of organisations including the RNLI and Stoves and Fuels Showroom.
Mr Heard, said: “I’ve made 57 so far to cheer up the town, businesses, charities and our wonderful key workers in the NHS.
“I’ve made two nurses and this paramedic to show that the community wants to say thank you.
“I’ve been doing nine years of volunteer work doing clean ups around Minehead but at the start of first lockdown I couldn’t do anything so I started doing metal heads slowly to put more happiness in the community.
“I use free recycled metal and paint and all my time is free. Some people have donated which goes back paying the stuff to go on it.”
