Somerset West and Taunton has published a prospectus of potential regeneration projects in the county town over the next 19 years.
The aim is to create the place "to live, work and do business in the UK" - but it won't come cheap.
The council reckons the cost of all the projects would cost at least £1 billion and needs public and private investment.
One of the possible changes to the town centre could see the garden area on The Parade, in front of the Market House reinstated, while East Street and Fore Street would be closed to traffic apart from disabled and emergency vehicle access:
Riverside walks could be constructed between Firepool and crossing from Bridge Street into Goodland Gardens - an example is this image from Morrisons, passing in front of the flats opposite Coal Orchard to The Bridge:

Taunton Station is being developed to cope with an increase in passenger numbers, while flats are envisaged at Obridge Yard, West Yard and Kilkenny Car Park:
