A WOMAN was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation following a fire in a house in Taunton today (Saturday).
Fire crews from the county town and Wellington were sent to the incident in St Augustine Street shortly after 9am.
The woman had managed to get out of the property before firefighters arrived on the scene.
She was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital by ambulance.
Fire crews used two hose reel jets and four breathing apparatus to tackle the fire.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The ground floor of the property was 80 per cent damaged by fire and the first floor was 100 per cent damaged by smoke."
