Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton
POLICE descended on Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton, this afternoon (Saturday) in response to reports of "a malicious communication".
Officers say they do not believe there was a threat to the public and the hospital has remained operational.
Referring to the incident, which is now over, a force spokesperson said: "We are investigating a report of a malicious communication made today to Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
"We would like to reassure people that we do not believe that there is any credible threat to the safety of the public, which of course is our absolute priority.
"The hospital remains open.
"We understand people’s concerns and enquiries are ongoing to identify who sent the communication."
