POLICE issued 10 fines to people breaching the Covid restrictions at a Somerset beauty spot yesterday (Sunday).
Fire crews rescuing a person who had suffered suspected broken bones after a fall at Cheddar Gorge called in police to assist with crowd control ahead of the air ambulance landing to take the casualty to hospital.
A spokesperson for Sedgemoor Neighbourhood Policing said: "The emergency crews grew concerned about the volume of people at the location taking exercise.
"Once the casualty had been taken away, Sedgemoor NPT had cause to speak to high numbers of people, who were parked in the car parks.
"This resulted in 10 persons being given fixed penalty notices for unnecessary travel, and two Covid warnings issued.
"With only months to go until we can start getting back to normality, please resist in coming to beauty spots in Somerset.
"You should only be taking exercise in the local area to your home.
"The casualty was taken by air to Bristol with a suspected broken shoulder."
