THERE were 29 new Covid-19 cases in four Somerset districts in the past 24-hours, according to the latest figures.
Somerset West and Taunton had ten new cases, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 5,846. And South Somerset also had ten new cases (bringing the total to 5,155); Sedgemoor had seven new cases (bringing the total to 5,126) and Mendip had just two positive tests (bringing the total to 3,355).
The rate of infection has started to rise again in all districts - apart from Sedgemoor, with a rate of infection of 32.5 people per 100,000, which is down from 38.2.
Somerset West and Taunton's rate of infection is 13.5 (up from 11.6); Mendip's is 53.6 (up from 51.9) and South Somerset's is 54.6 (up from 51.7).
Sadly, there was one death in Mendip, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 161.
