THE Covid-19 rate of infection rose in all four Somerset districts in the latest 24-hour figures.
The biggest increase was in South Somerset, where the rate went up to 64.7 people per 100,000 of population according to the latest rolling seven-day figures, (up from 54.6 the previous day)..
The rate in Somerset West and Taunton is 14.8 (up from 13.5).
In Sedgemoor it's 36.5 (up from 30).
And Mendip's rate is 51 (up from 50.2).
The rates have dropped considerably in recent weeks, probably due to the vaccination programme, which inevitably leads to slight blips.
More encouragingly, there were just 19 new confirmed cases in the county council area, with single figure positive tests in each district.
South Somerset recorded seven new confirmed cases, giving it an overall total of 5,173 cases since the start of the pandemic.
SWT had eight positive tests (overall total 5,855).
In Sedgemoor there were two new confirmed cases (overall total 5,132).
And in Mendip there were two positive tests (overall total 3,359).
The county council area has seen an overall total of 19,519 confirmed cases of the virus since the start of the pandemic.
There were no deaths in the latest figures of people in Somerset who had tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 28 days.
