THE latest Covid related death has been recorded in Somerset, despite the number of positive tests remaining low.
The person who died in Sedgemoor had tested positive for the virus within the past 28 days. Their cause of death has not been revealed.
It means a total of 664 people with the virus have died from any cause in the county council area since the start of the pandemic.
The death toll in each district is South Somerset 148; Somerset West and Taunton 201; Sedgemoor 154; and Mendip 161.
In the latest 24-hour figures, there were 35 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
Of those, 15 were in South Somerset, which has seen 5,199 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
SWT saw five positive tests for an overall total of 5,864.
In Sedgemoor there were 12 new confirmed cases (total 5,154).
And Mendip recorded three positive tests (total 3,369).
The latest infection rates based on seven-day rolling figures are South Somerset 56.4 people per 100,000 of population (down from 57 the previous day); SWT 21.9 (up from 20.6); Sedgemoor 43.8 (up from 41.4); and Mendip 32.9 (down from 41.4).
