UPDATE: As of around 1pm, it is understood power had been restored to all affected properties in both Wellington and Taunton.
THOUSANDS of homes in Taunton and Wellington have been left without power this morning.
It is understood power went down in parts of Taunton and Wellington at around 9.45am, with engineers currently working to solve the problem and restore electricity.
"We are aware of this power cut incident which was raised at 9.47am this morning and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible," said a spokesperson for Western Power Distribution (WPD).
"We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you."
It is understood more than 4,400 propertie sare currently affected, down from around 8,000 earlier today.
WPD said it hopes to have all supplies restored by around 11.30am.
