POLICE are investigating the theft of lithium batteries from the Zipp mobility e-scooters in Taunton.
The electric scooters were discovered without the batteries in the county town.
The scooters, which are owned by Ireland-based Zipp, are part of a year-long trial in the town.
They are parked in designated areas of the town and can be hired out for journeys within a specified zone.
They can then be parked up in any of the designated areas of the town ready for the next users.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "We are currently investigating the theft of lithium batteries from the Zipp mobility scooters in Taunton.
"If you have any information that may assist us with our enquiries, please call 101 quoting reference number 5221057409."
The scooters must be ridden on the road, not the pavement.
Riders need to have a driving licence.
It is an offence to ride any other e-scooter on a public road if it is not part of the Zipp trial.
