A SOMERSET district has seen a worrying increase in its Covid infection rate in recent days.
Sedgemoor has seen its rate rise to 59.3 people per 100,000 of population in the latest seven-day rolling figures - up from 46.3 two days ago.
The rates in the other dist6ricts are South Somerset 44.6 per 100,000 (up from 41.6 the previous day); Somerset West and Taunton 16.8 (no change); Mendip 19 (no change).
The latest 24-hour figures saw 14 positive Covid tests in South Somerset, for an overall total of 5,2 confi86rmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
SWT had two new confirmed cases for a total of 5,884 confirmed cases.
Sedgemoor had 20 new confirmed cases, taking its total to 5,245 confirmed cases.
Mendip had 11 positive tests for a total of 3,401.
There were no Covid related deaths in the past 24 hours.
South Somerset, which recorded two deaths the previous day, has seen a total of 151 Covid related deaths since the start of the pandemic.
SWT has seen 201 deaths overall.
In Sedgemoor there have been 154 deaths.
And Mendip, which also reported a Covid death the previous day, the total now stands at 161.
