A PERSON with Covid-19 has sadly died in the Somerset district with the lowest rate of infection.
The person, who had tested positive for the virus within the past 28 days, died in Somerset West and Taunton.
It means a total of 202 people have passed away in SWT since the start of the pandemic.
The death toll in the other districts remain at South Somerset 151; Sedgemoor 154; and Mendip 161.
The latest 24-hour figures show there were 36 new confirmed cases in the county council area.
Of those, 14 were in South Somerset, where the total number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic has risen to 5,300.
SWT recorded nine positive tests, for an overall total of 5,893.
In Sedgemoor there were 12 new confirmed cases (overall total 5,257).
And in Mendip there was a single new confirmed case (overall total 3,402).
The infection rates based on the latest rolling seven-day figures are South Somerset 51.1 people per 100,000 of population (up from 44.6 the previous day); SWT 14.8 (down from 16.8); Sedgemoor 65.8 (up from 59.3); and Mendip 19.9 (up from 19).
