A SOMERSET company is offering training courses to help improve wellbeing in the workplace.
The Wellbe Hub's courses are licensed by Mental Health First Aid England, and teaches participants how to be mindful of the mental health needs of colleagues and team members.
Counsellor and mental health first aid trainer, Joanna Buckland of The WellBe Hub, said the pandemic has "dramatically" changed the way we work.
"Some people might have enjoyed the more flexible approach to managing their workload around family commitments, others have been largely on their own for many months," she said.
"In either case there might be significant anxieties surrounding the return to the workplace.
“As companies prepare to transition back to the office or to a new hybrid way of working, investing in the mental health of staff will pay dividends both from a financial perspective and a human one.
"As well as the mental health first aid training, our wellbeing programmes can incorporate a number of different courses responding to challenges employees may be facing.
"There is no one-size-fits all for companies, each programme can be tailored to suit a particular business’ culture or organisation.
“There is a long to-do list for companies preparing to reopen physical workspaces but safeguarding the mental health and wellbeing of their staff must be an essential part of it.”
According to Deloitte, poor mental health costs UK employers up to £45billion each year. For every £1 spent by employers on mental health interventions, they can see a return of £5.
Despite this, a recent study by Mental Health First Aid England has found that a quarter of employees say they have had no wellbeing check-ins from their workplace during the pandemic and almost a third of workers never discuss mental health in meetings with their line manager.
