THE death of another person in Somerset with Covid has been recorded in the latest figures.
The person, who had tested positive for the virus within the past 28 days, died in the Mendip district.
The death toll in the Mendip district is now 161 since the start of the pandemic.
South Somerset has recorded a total of 151 deaths since the start of the pandemic; the overall figure in Somerset West and Taunton is 202; and 154 people with Covid have died in Sedgemoor.
Government figures released this afternoon show there were 38 positive tests in the county council area in the latest 24-hour period.
Of those, 16 were in South Somerset, which has seen 5,369 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
SWT had five new confirmed cases (overall total 5,913).
There were 15 positive tests in Sedgemoor (total 5,287).
Mendip saw two new confirmed cases (total 3,413).
The rates of infection based on the latest rolling seven-day figures are 69.5 people per 100,000 of population in South Somerset, up from 57 the previous day.
In SWT it rose to 20 from 16.1
Sedgemoor had a decrease to 59.3 from 74.7
And Mendip is at 22.5, down from 27.7
