A FIREFIGHTER had to summon his colleagues when his grandson got his finger stuck in a ring.
Arthur, aged four, was returning from a morning fossil hunting on the beach.
While his mum and grandad went into a shop to order a coffee, the youngster got his finger stuck in a small ring attached to the shopfront.
His grandad tried to free the finger from the ring using washing up liquid and ice, but to no avail.
As the finger began to swell up and turn red, the experienced firefighter then rang 999 to summon his colleagues from Williton Fire Station.
A swift response from a crew and Arthur was promptly free.
A Williton Fire Station spokesperson said: "Don't hesitate to call on us for help, it is what we are here for."
