AROUND 20 Kill the Bill protestors met up in Taunton town centre yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
The Black Lives Taunton members, who ]convened outside the Market House, were demonstrating against the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.
They fear the bill if it becomes law would ban their right to peaceful demonstrations.
Organiser Vienna Watts said: "At the height of the protest there were 20 to 25 people.
"Protestors joined and left throughout the time we were there.
"We had many members of the public out shopping, stop and listen.
"So the audience itself was rather large.
"We are so happy for those protesters that turned up in support. It was a successful peaceful protest.
"We showed up in solidarity, had fun, got our points across, made noise, had one or two hecklers, and a few middle fingers but, not too much hate on Facebook. So that's an improvement."
There was a small police presence during the event, which was addressed by five speakers and during which Ms Watts said participants respected social distancing measures.
BLM is planning another protest in the county town on Saturday, May 1, with the time and location to be announced.
