TODAY (Sunday, May 2) marks the end of an era with the Debenhams store set to close in Taunton.
In the lead up to the final closure, the company has been promising discounts of up to 80 per cent off fashion and home products.
The North Street store is one of 16 shutting permanently today.
The rest of the stores across the country are expected to close by May 15..
Debenhams collapsed last year after 242 years.
The online business has been bought by Boohoo in a £55million deal.
A spokesperson for Debenhams, which re-opened the Taunton store last week with the easing of lockdown restrictions, said: “With such great bargains on offer, it’s no wonder our stock is selling out incredibly fast.
“Time is running out for shoppers to take advantage of the incredible discounts being offered.”
Proposals have been submitted to demolish the Taunton store and replace it with apartments and ground floor shops.
