TAUNTON has a new Mayor.
Cllr Sue Lees was voted into office at a ceremony yesterday (Tuesday).
She succeeds Cllr Fran Smith and will hold the post for a year.
Cllr Brenda Weston was sworn in as the county town's Deputy Mayor.
Cllr Lees, who is partially sighted and served as Mayoress of Taunton Deane in 2005 when her husband, Cllr Richard Lees was the district Mayor, had served as Deputy Mayor alongside Cllr Smith for a term.
She tweeted: "Hello #Taunton!
"I am delighted to have been installed as Mayor of Taunton for 2021-2022.
"The #DeputyMayor and I very much look forward to meeting you in the coming weeks and months. #ProudMayor #NewMayor."
